This morning, I nearly flipped my car and killed myself. I was changing lanes on a road that I thought was meerly wet, and my car hit a patch of ice. I lost control, slid, nearly slammed into an suv, overcorrected, and spun the front end of my car into a curb and a cement barrier. the front end of my car left the ground, my airbags went off. and then I found myself on the two wheels on the drivers side of my car, and the other tow hitting the road again. I nearly flipped my car, and I was going 35. That's not even speeding. The only mistake I made was overcorrecting my skid. If I had been driving a few miles faster, I probably would have flipped my car. I could have lost my life in less than three seconds and less than two hundred feet.

I've gained a whole new appreciation for my life, and the things in it that are important to me. It's humbling to realize how very fragile life and its accessories are. I doubt that anyone can realize it until they've faced death themselves, but it would be for the best if everyone would just acknowledge that they're mortal.
